Basic controls

• Move right or left: Move Left Stick right or left
• Crouch: Move Left Stick down
• Jump: Press B button
• Interact/talk: Press A button (when prompted)
• Pause/open map: Press (+) button on the right Joy-Con (Handheld Mode). Press (-) button on the left Joy-Con (Horizontal Mode)

Ability controls

The following controls are available when unlocked:

• Boost Jump: Press B button while at the peak of your jump
• Wall Jump: Press B button while running into a wall
• Glide: Press and hold Y button while in the air
• Ground Pound:  Move Left Stick down and Y button 
• Swing: Press and hold Y button when in range of a swing point 

• Swimming 
  • Surface swimming: Move Left Stick right or left
  • Exit water: Press B button
  • Enter deep dive: Move Left Stick down
  • Underwater 360 degree movement: Move Left Stick 
  • Deep dive ram: Press Y button
  • Enter surface swimming from deep dive: Move Left Stick up when near the surface

• Grind: Automatic when jumping or landing on a grind rail
• Exit grind: Press B button to jump off or Left Stick down and hold B button to pass through grind rail

Multiplayer ability controls

The following controls are available for 2 - 4 player co-op only: 

• Hug 
  • Request hug: Hold Y button when grounded
  • Give hug: Approach character requesting hug and press Y button
• Rope Drop
  • Drop rope: Move Left Stick down and Y button at the edge of a platform
  • Climb rope: Press Y button when in contact with dropped rope
• Leap Frog
  • Leap Frog setup: Crouch (move Left Stick down) to set up a Leap Frog jump for another player
  • Leap Frog jump: Run towards crouched player and press the displayed button when on top of them
