Can I move the program folder after installing the game?
If you wish to move the the game to a new folder, we recommend that you uninstall first, then reinstall to the new location. When uninstalling, make sure to choose Yes when prompted to keep your user profile so you do not lose your progress. Simply moving the folder will cause the uninstaller to be unable to find the program and you will need to manually uninstall the game.
I get the message "Directory invalid" when I try to install the update.
This error will occur if you attempt to install the update for Escape from Monkey Island© while the game's Launcher/"Start Game menu is open. To correct this issue:
- Locate the Monkey 4 folder installed on your hard drive.
- Delete the Patch.m4b file from the folder.
- Try running the game update once more.
Make sure that the Escape from Monkey Island© Start Game menu is not open when you run the update this time.
You can also try uninstalling the game from the Launcher menu. You may wish to make a backup copy of any saved games first by copying the Saves folder located within the main folder for the game on your harddrive.
After uninstalling the game, delete the game folder manually from the harddrive, then reinstall the game.
Now try reinstalling the game update, and again make sure that you close the Escape from Monkey Island© Start Game menu before you run the game update.
I installed the program, but the shortcut did not appear on the desktop.
The shortcut may not appear on your desktop after installing the game if multiple users use one computer and the system is configured with each person having a separate profile. If your system is configured this way and you choose to create a shortcut to the game during installation, it may not appear on your desktop. If this occurs, just go to the Windows Desktop folder and copy the shortcut to your current desktop or copy the shortcut from the Start Menu to your desktop.
